PLANT hire specialist Stevens Equipment Rental (SER) will make its first official appearance at ScotPlant this year, as the firm continues to strengthen relationships with contractors working across Scotland.

SER said Scotland is increasingly important for the business, which has recently opened two satellite depots and increased the number of service engineers based north of the border.

“Scotland is a key area of growth for us,” explained Mark Need, SER’s sales manager for Scotland and the north of England. “There are many major renewable energy projects as well as road infrastructure and housing developments linked to these schemes driving demand for heavy equipment.

“We’re already supporting customers across the country, so ScotPlant is a good opportunity to meet with people face-to-face and talk about what they need on upcoming jobs.”

On the stand, SER will display a Cat D6 dozer and a latest-generation Volvo A30 articulated hauler. While these machines reflect much of the large earthmoving and infrastructure work currently underway in Scotland, they only represent part of the equipment SER supplies nationally. The fleet also includes large excavators, material handlers, wheeled loading shovels, and compaction equipment.

SER is keen to highlight its ability to provide bespoke equipment for longer-term contracts. In such cases, the company revealed it will source specialist machinery and adapt it for specific applications in sectors such as ports, warehousing, and forestry.

Through a display of wear parts, including track components and wear edges, SER will also demonstrate how it strengthens machines to ensure they remain available and productive on demanding jobs.

In addition, visitors to the SER stand will be able to learn about the company’s offering of Ultimate Cell technology across its fleet. The retrofit system uses electrolysis to generate hydrogen on demand, which is then introduced into the engine’s air intake in small amounts to optimise the combustion process.

A representative from Ultimate Cell will be on hand to explain how the technology works and its benefits when applied to SER machines, which are said to include lower fuel consumption, lower fuel costs, and lower emissions.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet Aidan Harrison, SER’s recently appointed operations director, as well as Andew Stevens, the company’s owner and MD.

“Direct access to senior staff is an important part of the way SER works with customers,” Mark added. “That personal connection is something we’ve always valued and we’re looking forward to having conversations in person at ScotPlant about how we can support customers as a one-stop shop nationally – whether that’s improving productivity or uptime, adapting machines for specific applications, or helping reduce operating costs and emissions.”
