Steelwrist third generation tiltrotator

STEELWRIST will be showcasing the manufacturer’s third generation XTR tiltrotators alongside the newest addition the SQ coupler range – the SQ40 – at ScotPlant 2026.

The XTR range includes the XTR20, XTR15, and XTR23 models. CEO Stefan Stockhaus told Project Plant last year that all the manufacturer’s experience from 20 years of being in business has gone into this new generation.

The models boast features including ‘best in class’ tilt geometry, OptiLube onboard lubrication system, and LockSense, a sensor-based system to indicate if the work tool is securely locked. Common for all XTR models is that they are upgradeable from S to SQ interface. The third generation tiltrotators feature steel cast components, including the upper coupler, gearbox, and quick coupler below the tiltrotator. This is designed to ensure ‘maximum durability’ while maintaining a compact build and low overall height.

The SQ40 automatic coupler, meanwhile, has extended Steelwrist’s automatic oil connection technology to compact excavators. SQ40 allows for quick changes of high flow-powered work tools also on smaller excavators.

The SQ40 coupler is optimised to achieve a flow of 70 l/min thanks to a new coupling that is said to provide 40% more flow area compared to a standard 3/8” coupling. SQ40 follows the symmetrical standard for S40, which means existing work tools with this interface are compatible and customers can use these directly without expensive adaptations.
