Astrak UK has announced the acquisition of the undercarriage parts division of Southern Plant Spares.
The Kirkcaldy-based undercarriage parts supplier has also acquired the Southern Plant Spares (SPS) name. York-based SPS is a supplier of rubber tracks, undercarriage parts and other associated spare parts for earthmoving machinery and has been servicing the construction industry for over two decades.
The company’s bucket and attachment division has been renamed as Rhinox Group and is to be taken forward by the original directors of SPS.
Richard Paterson, Astrak UK managing director commented, “The acquisition of Southern Plant Spares is a perfect fit to our current business model and represents an exciting step forward for us in our journey to excellence.
“It will allow us to consolidate our existing position in the market and offer a greater depth to our already comprehensive parts and service offering. We are proud to have been able to acquire such a reputable company in our market sector.”
Jim Record, former managing director of SPS said, “This exciting development will enable Rhinox Group to focus on expanding its core range of buckets and attachments to greatly benefit customers through increased stock levels, enhanced service levels and a larger product portfolio.
“Likewise, with the tracks and undercarriage product range being supplied by Astrak going forward, customers will enjoy a greatly increased product and service offering from Astrak’s network of four UK stocking points.”
He added, “This enthusing move forward will mean that Rhinox Group and Astrak are in an enhanced position to give customers of all sizes an unrivalled level of service in this ever changing and challenging world.”
